You wake up on the other side of the world with a headache from all the sunlight. You walk down to the beach and now the sun is floating. That night you go for a walk. There is a man asleep on a motorbike. The night swirls into the late evening traffic. The ocean air carries its own air of menace. The sidewalk falls away into the street and you barely see it in time. Walking along Copacabana backstreets trying to find a knockoff red Lula shirt before the election next week. You are just in town through the weekend and can't vote. The next day you walk to Leblon as it starts to rain. You sit under the awning of a bar watching people do their weekday evening shopping. You gave up on the beach after the first day. You hide in your room to escape the sun. These are trying times, yeah.
